Week of March 28th

            

REMINDERS!


  • Friday there will be no After-school Program! Dismissal will be at 12:00pm 
  • Parent teacher Conferences are on Friday April 1st. In person meetings will be from 1:00 - 2:30pm, Virtual meetings will be from 3:00 - 6:00pm. please be sure to schedule ahead of time it will be first come first serve. 
  • Friends with pull-ups please resupply we are running low on Pull-ups.
  • Classroom supplies are running low such as Baby wipes, tissue, clorox wipes and Lysol spray, if you can please helps us restock. 
  • Please make sure your child walks into the school building with a mask on already. 
  • Please make sure your child has two extra change of clothes, including underwear, tops bottoms and socks.

Exploration 2: Our Environment

Essential Question: What can we discover about community?

Focus Area: Moving

Weekly Focus: Investigating how we move through the city

Focused Learning Activity for the Week:


Science

Children will be provided with Milk cartons and and they will be able to make a form of transportation they have learned about.  

 

Standard Addressed:

Goal: SCI: 1- 6 Children will be working with teacher discussing, predicting and testing to come  to a conclusion.

 

Foundational Text for the Week:


Subway By Anastasia Suen


Questions that will be asked throughout the week related to the foundational text:

  • What are some of the ways the girl and her grandma moved on their subway trip?
  • Where do you think the girl and her grandma were going?
  • Do you ever ride the subway? Where do you go? Who do you ride with?


 

Learning Centers Available for the Theme:

Blocks- Children are encouraged to use explore the block center. They will be shown a few unit blocks, shown where they can be found in the classroom, and shown how to match them to their outline in order to clean up.

 

Dramatic Play- Children are invited to explore the dramatic play area and use the props provided. Dramatic Play will be set up as a kitchen.  Teacher will introduce basic materials, how to use them, and how to put them away.

 

Art- Children are invited to explore the art area. They will be shown a paint container, brush and paper. Teacher will model how to dip brush in paint and paint a few brushstrokes on paper. Students will be shown where materials can be found in the classroom and what they should do when they finish painting.

 

Science- Children will be shown a few items from a collection of natural objects. Teacher will model how students can begin to explore some of the materials. They will be shown where these materials can be found in the classroom and how to put them away when finished.

 

Math- Children will be shown a couple of puzzles. Teacher will model how to take apart and how to put a few pieces together. Students will be shown where puzzles can be found and how to put them away.

 

Library- Students are able to explore books from the classroom library.

 

Writing- Students are invited to explore the materials provided in the writing center. They are encouraged to explore their name cards.  

 

Sensory- Students will be shown a small amount of sand and a few toys. They will be shown where these materials can be found in the classroom.

Week of March 7th

  • Wednesday is National barbie day.. children may dress up in Barbie or Ken outfits. 
  • Thursday is Mario day Children may dress -up in anything Mario related 
  • Friday no early drop off, doors will open at 7:45am

Children will be provided with cutouts  of shapes. They will be asked to use the shapes to make a form of transportation they like to use to get through the city.

Along A Long Road by Frank Viva


Questions that will be asked throughout the week related to the foundational text:

  • There is a man riding a bike in this book. What other vehicles do you see in this book?
  • The man went UP, around a town and then back DOWN. He went IN a tunnel and then _ (out) _. What else did he do?
  • The man in this book rides his bike on a road. Do you ever travel on roads? Where do you go? What vehicle(s) do you use?
