Fill any clear bin with water. Grab a couple of toys or items and name each item with your child. Explain to your child that when you place items in water sometimes they may sink and other time they may float.
Suggested questions during activity
• How does the _____ feel?
• How can you fill _____ with ______?
• Why do you think ________ happens when you pour sand/water in it?
• What would happen if ______?
Learn at Home activity for today:
Tuesday:
Breathe. Place a light object (e.g. cotton ball, feather, piece of paper, round pencil, small ball, etc.) on one end of a table and see if you and your child can blow it to the other side. Repeat with other objects of differing weights.
Questions to ask your child:
•What did you observe here/when ____?
•What did your sense of ____ tell you about ____?
•What will you try next?
•I wonder what would happen if ____?
•How do you know?
•How could we find out?
